2021 Ministry Volunteer Program (MVP)
FROM Saturday, July 10, 2021 5:00 PM TO Friday, July 16, 2021 5:00 PM

We are pleased to announce that applications for the 2021 Ministry Volunteer Program (MVP) workshop are now being accepted. We welcome working professionals and students who have the heart to serve to participate in this program. The program is open to all youths who have graduated high school by July 2021 and older. Underage youths will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We encourage those seeking a spiritual cultivation-based seminar to attend J2 SSC or NYTS. Interested youths should apply here by June 15, 2021.

Please do your best to register on time. If you are tentatively unsure about your attendance to this MVP, we have provided an option for you to indicate that.

Purpose: This year’s program focus will again be solely on completing ministry projects.

The projects of this MVP are:

    • Hymnal Piano Accompaniment: Participants will help to listen through hymnal piano accompaniment recorded by members and take notes of improvement and suggestions if there's any. Make title and verse slides to create hymnal accompaniment videos.
    • Vocal Hymnal Recording: Participants will record four parts hymn singing on top of the approved hymnal piano accompaniment recordings. Edit and mix the voice recordings with piano recording.
    • RE Memory Verse Songs Composition: This project will consist of three parts:
    1. RE Memory Verse Songs Project: In this project, we will practice writing memory verse songs according to the RE curriculum.

    2. Children’s Bible Songs: Songwriters will be encouraged to come up with their own lyrics to produce suitable children’s Bible songs.

    3. Hymnal Arrangement (both choral and instrumental arrangement): Based on existing hymns, songwriters can explore how to arrange hymns with more compositional skills.

    • Web Development: Learn through hands-on projects how web development plays a key part in media ministry. Aspiring developers will use basic web building tools to build a simple site. Experienced developers will apply coding or database skills to work on more advanced tasks.
    • Sermon Time Mapping: Team members will be responsible for indexing online sermon recordings. Once indexed, the recordings will be accessible on bible.tjc.org. When a user of eRhema Bible App selects a verse in the Bible, one would be able to listen or watch sermons that mention the selected verse.
    • Graphic Design: Ministry volunteers will be exposed to the TJC style guide and common graphic design software (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign or similar) used in media ministry. Volunteers will assist in ongoing design projects including and not limited to pocket calendars, stock photos, posters, and flyers.
    • Q&A Knowledgebase: Team members will compile the various Q&A materials from TRC resolutions, church publications, seminars/trainings, and web inquiries into a central knowledge base for church workers to reference and for a prospective Q&A page on tjc.org.
    • Video ProductionAs videos play an increasingly important role in media ministry, more ministry workers are needed for video production work. Learn how to do video-editing through hands-on projects. Workers will also be exposed to the basics of filming.
    • Online Content Creation: Learn to read and study the Bible in depth. Based on lessons learned from the Bible study, write a devotional, organize a character study, or plan for an evangelical or Christian living video.
    • Fellowship Games - New Board Game: Since MVP is still online this year, the new Bible board game started in MVP 2018 will continue at a future MVP. This project will aim to create a new board game that can be created and played virtually and/or in-person. Since this project encompasses all parts of creating a board game, all skills and talents can be utilized to serve in this project.
    • Taiwan GA E2/J1 Bible Reading Guide Translation: Volunteers would translate Bible reading guides designed for E2/J1 students from Chinese to English.
    • Sermon Notes Compilation: Participants will work to collect, and systematically organize presentations and notes that have been used in past church seminars
    Logistical Reminders:
      • Participants will be notified by June 30, 2021, of their acceptance.
      • Full-time attendance is highly recommended.
      • This year's MVP will be fully online, and will begin on July 10 with the Opening Ceremony at 5:30PM PDT.

If you have any questions regarding this workshop, please contact the MVP coordinators at mvp@tjc.org

We look forward to seeing you at this year's MVP!
