Theme: Here Am I! Send Me

Goal: Participants will offer their musical talents and abilities in holy service to the Lord through volunteering in a music ministry project, singing in choir, and participating in evangelical outreach.

**Participants should be musically proficient and spiritually ready to serve in the music ministry.

Event Details

Attendees: Open to baptized TJC members who are current 10th graders (in the 2024-2025 school year) to adults. Participants must attend full-time. 
Location: Cerritos Church
Date and Time: Sunday, 6/29 at 11AM PDT - Friday, 7/4 at 9PM PDT
Check-in: Sunday, 6/29 at 11AM 
Opening Ceremony: Sunday, 6/29 at 1PM
Max. capacity: 60 participants

Registration Details

Registration opens on March 23rd at 12 noon PDT and closes on May 7th or when the indicated maximum capacity is reached. Please withdraw your MMP registration if you decide to register for SWR Sacred Music Camp. You will be asked to write a minimum 250-word essay on the registration website. It is advisable to prepare your essay in a separate document to prevent loss of information.

Essay Prompt:

• (1) Your purposes and goals for attending MMP and the reasons you pick the project groups; (2) What musical sacred works do you currently participate/have participated in. For how long?; (3) Your musical background & experience -- e.g. which instruments do you play, how many years have you played; describe your proficiency (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Please note that MMP participants should be musically proficient and spiritually ready to serve in the music ministry.

Additional Registration Requirements:

• Fill in, print out, and physically sign the required release form. Submit a scanned or clear photo to the Material Submission Google Form by May 7.
• Submit any additional required materials outlined under the “Projects Info” section to the Material Submission Google Form by May 7.

Acceptance will be considered based on the sequence of registrants and the completion of registration materials. Applicants will be notified of acceptance via email once the signed release form and required registration materials have been reviewed.

Projects Info

Hymnal Choral Recording

• Goal: Sing to record choral arrangements of hymns and learn to express the spiritual meaning of the lyrics through music.
• Skills needed: Adept at sight reading; can learn a hymn in four parts quickly without additional training; can sing on pitch and vocally blend well with others.
• Material submission required: Audio recording of one verse of Hymn 322 in your voice part.

Sacred Music Podcast

• Goal: Prepare devotional encouragement for existing audio hymnal recordings and record devotional sharing.
• Range of Desired Skills: (1) Podcast program planning and songs selection, (2) Bible study on devotional content, (3) script writing, (4) piano accompaniment, (5) an engaging, articulate broadcasting voice, and/or (6) Hymn/lyric analysis.
  
  
  

Instrumental Ensemble

• Goals: Record instrumental music for the Sacred Music Podcast Project and play instrumental music for the Hymnal Choral Recording group, Friday Music Worship Night, and evangelical outreach sessions.
• Skills needed: Adept at sight reading; can learn an arrangement quickly without additional training; can play on pitch and blend well with others.
• Material submission required: Video recording of one verse of Hymn 322 melody and any 2-octave scale.

Audio Recording Practicum

• Goals: Understand recording systems, microphone techniques, and DAW software to support MMP projects, while also handling post-production editing and mastering for final delivery.
• Skills needed: A willing heart to serve God, strong listening skills, and prior experience with DAW or audio editing software is a plus.

Composition and Arrangement

• Goals: Compose and write arrangements for Hymnal Choral Recording Project, Sacred Music Podcast Project, Instrumental Ensemble Project, and/or Wedding & Funeral Prelude/Slideshow Music
• Skills needed: Understanding of music theory, basic piano skills, and basic usage of notation software.
• Material submission required: An original sacred music composition or arrangement.

Transportation and Lodging

• LGB will be the main airport designated for arrival and departure. Cerritos church will provide transportation to and from LGB or SNA within 1 day of the MMP start and end dates. Participants should make every effort to arrange itineraries accordingly.
• Please avoid arriving/departing during Sabbath (Fri. & Sat.) service times.
• Transportation Google Form will be sent out after registration.
• The church will not organize meals or transportation for leisure activities outside the official event dates.
